Within You Without You

This was the track that first made me interested in the sitar when I was young, George Harrison's Within you without you and to this day it still hits the spot with me so here's a few covers of it for you,I've also included one from an ABC television show by Anthony Newley which is particularly nice. If anyone has any other good versions please send them as I never tire of it, no hip hop remix ones please thanks

  1. Big Jim Sullivan's version from "Sitar Beat" comes to my mind. Patti Smith did a cover and also, a bit unexpected, Sonic Youth - not a hip hop remix but maybe still not your taste:

  8. The Peter Knight is from a an old record from LemonCat I believe - wish he were around to check with - Knight & Co. do instros of the entire Pepper LP. The Stephanie Dosen track is from MOJO mag's 40th anniv. Pepper edition CD. Lord Sitar's version is from Big Jim Sullivan's Sitar Beat 1968 and Rainer Ptacek came from a 2001 comp of Beatle covers called Why Don't We Do It In The Road?

That Yuichi Onoue is too cool!

  13. they're called beatlejazz and I don't know too much about them but here's the website: www.brianmelvin.com/beatlejazz.htm

They've got 4 whole albums like that, and they're good, but it's hard to listen to a whole lot at one sitting.
actually, within you is probably the best track -- as you say, it never gets old, no matter who does it :)

mind you I haven't heard the 3rd and 4th, which features the likes of John Scofield, Mike Stern and the Brecker bros, which might liven up the proceedings a whole lot,

  14. Thanks TN , sorry to take so long to post your comment, been busy
Have seen the John Scofield, Mike Stern and the Brecker bros one but must admit although they were amongst some of my fave artists I find them nowadays to be a somewhat dated listen
